    Multi-spindle turning

High-volume production on 6-spindle automatic lathes

For medium and large series we produce on 6-spindle automatic lathes. The multi-spindle technology delivers significantly shorter cycle times and a highly competitive unit cost – without compromising precision.

What is a 6-spindle automatic lathe?

A 6-spindle automatic lathe machines six parts simultaneously – one per spindle. While one spindle performs roughing, the others run finishing, drilling, thread cutting and parting off in parallel. The result is a cycle time per part that is typically 3–5× faster than a single-spindle CNC lathe.

This makes the technology particularly well suited to series from a few thousand up to several hundred thousand parts per year, where unit cost is decisive.

When do we choose multi-spindle production?

We recommend multi-spindle turning when the part is moderately complex, the geometry is stable over time, and the volume is high enough to justify the setup time. Our engineers always assess together with you whether your part runs most cost-effectively on our 6-spindle machines or on our single-spindle CNC lathes and Swiss-type lathes.

We work in all typical turning materials – free-cutting steel, stainless steel, brass, aluminium and selected engineering plastics – and gladly combine multi-spindle turning with downstream milling, grinding, washing and packing as a complete supply package.

    Frequently asked questions

When is multi-spindle turning the right choice?
For large, repeating series of turned parts where unit cost is decisive. Several spindles machine the part simultaneously, cutting cycle time significantly.
What volumes are we talking about?
Typically from a few thousand parts upwards. For smaller batches single-spindle CNC turning is usually more economical due to setup time.
    Does speed compromise precision?
No. We hold tight tolerances on the 6-spindle machines with in-process control under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
Which materials can run on the machines?
Free-cutting steel, stainless steel, brass, copper and aluminium.
Can you stock parts and deliver on call-off?
Yes. We are happy to agree call-off orders with running deliveries so you avoid tying up capital in stock.
